About Mortgage Lens

Independent mortgage review for borrowers.

We check the fees, rates, and fine print in your mortgage paperwork and explain what we find in plain English. No lender pays us a cent.

Our mission

Mortgage paperwork, in plain English.

A mortgage is one of the biggest purchases most people ever make, and the paperwork is written for lenders, not for you. Mortgage Lens reads your Loan Estimates, Closing Disclosures, and mortgage statements, runs the math, and tells you in plain English what looks fine, what doesn't, and what to ask your lender about.

We want every borrower to walk into a closing knowing what they're signing, without having to become a mortgage expert first.

Independence

We never take money from lenders.

No referral fees, no ads, no paid placements, no "preferred partners." No lender can pay to look better in your report, so we have no reason to go easy on anyone. When a fee looks padded or a rate looks high, we say so.

How we make money

Two ways, both out in the open.

  • Borrowers pay a one-time price for a report, from $49 to $219 depending on what you need. No subscription. See pricing.
  • Real estate agents can subscribe, from $49 a month, to share white-labeled Closing Disclosure audits with their clients.

Our mortgage calculators are free, with no sign-up.

How reports are made

Our code does the math. AI reads, applies our rules, and explains.

Our code calculates payments, break-even points, affordability limits, and the federal limits on how much closing costs can change. AI reads your documents and writes the plain-English explanations. In a Refi Check and in Estimate Compare, AI also makes the headline call (whether refinancing pays off now, and which offer costs you least) by applying written rules we give it to our calculated numbers. Our methodology page explains what we check and where our numbers come from, and you can see sample reports before you buy.

What we're not

Not your lender, broker, or advisor.

We don't make loans, we don't broker them, and we never contact your lender for you. Our reports are information to help you ask better questions. The decisions stay yours. Our disclaimers explain the limits of a report.
